MGMT’s Andrew VanWyngarden and Benjamin Goldwasser confused an entire theater of fans when they didn’t play their Grammy-nominated hits and instead made psychedelic noise for two straight hours. Some people were pissed, some expected it, most were left a bit disappointed. But the lights were trippy so… that was nice. 

After a short wait, VanWyngarden and Goldwasser strolled onto the stage like shy children, with their heads down but still sparing a wave for the audience. They prep their instruments, and as the screen behind them turns into a kaleidoscopic curtain, the only thing one can hear is a war-like roar from the speakers, signaling the start of what sounded like the soundtrack for the apocalypse.
